Hi there! My name is Ashley Buckner and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist in both California and Utah. I have been serving clients since 2012 and specialize in working with trauma. I offer in-person sessions to clients residing in Southern Utah and am able to provide virtual therapy to clients throughout California and Utah. I spent the first part of my career as a school-based therapist in San Diego serving adolescents and their families. It was there that I found my passion for hearing and honoring the stories of others. I have worked in a variety of settings and have experience with adults, teens, and families.

My goal is to meet clients where they are at presently. The reason we seek help is important and I want to validate your reasons for reaching out. Part of my approach is to explore how past life experiences have shaped and impacted you. I believe that each of us has a trauma history - any experience that has stirred up distress in our life. Often, we are not given the space to work through this distress fully, which tends to build up and express itself in a variety of ways such as, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, body image issues, stress, etc. I believe that our brain and body are deeply intertwined and hold onto these difficulties in a way that we may not even be aware of.

In my sessions, I use a method called Brainspotting to foster powerful brain and body work. The hope of this method is that clients are able to access their own inner resources around issues to create a felt experience from the inside out. This allows clients to recognize their own needs and gives them internal tools to navigate challenges. For more information on Brainspotting, click here.

In my spare time, I am a Hot Sculpt instructor at Bristlecone Company in Cedar City, Utah. I truly value physical and mental wellness and work to bring movement into my sessions when appropriate.

I recognize the courage it takes to seek support and feel humbled each time I am able to hear and honor parts of a person’s experience. I look forward to the opportunity to be a part of your journey and to support you towards your goals.
